Lol, Android is moving towards being a compile-from-source based distro like Gentoo or Ports! Long installation times for big apps, but the end result is machine code tuned to each device's particular CPU. Can't wait to see this in action, and I wonder if they might be able to find a nice middle ground for lesser hardware. Perhaps the compilation could be done at background low priority while application runs normally on Dalvik. Eventually the app would speed up, and will be available much sooner.

Every other morning I sit around for an hour or two waiting for class. There's a group of bio majors that often sit nearby and I have love listening to them. In much the same way I'll banter and discuss issues/ideas/thoughts of programming/compilers/software with my colleagues, I get to hear them banter about all manner of (sometimes silly) bio-related ideas. The other day was an amusing discussion of all the things that have been bred/developed to glow in the dark ("Why? For SCIENCE! Duh."), and today I think they've been discussing evolutionary mechanics. I'm definitely going to miss their discussions when this semester is over. ^.^

This made me giggle on the way to class this morning. Bugs really are the ideal cars for getting people's attention.

Hehe, I just noticed that pepboys' parts desk terminals run motif desktop, possibly under actual unix? Firefox looks a little silly under such an ancient window manager :-)
