Either my wireless adapter decided to suddenly go senile (a likely possibility) or my campus Wifi just decided to start ignoring my laptop. After 20 minutes of debugging I gave in and switched to plan B: Android phone connected to same Wifi, sharing connection via USB tethering to laptop.

Nothing like using a $600 telecommunications device to access local Wifi when the $40 adapter in your laptop decides to stop functioning.

Now back to streaming music and writing papers. :-)
